This large scale painting was commissioned by a client in Colorado Springs, designed to hang over the Mantle Piece. It took over a year to realize, with most of that time going into preliminaries. After a few abortive attempts to paint the scene from imagination, I decided to create a small polychrome model which was then lit and used as the primary reference. You can see the model in Objects.
